Yeah, the damage-to-champions metric will have some faults, but it's the best quantitative measure we have for game-long performance & shouldn't be ignored until we have a better alternative.
Sustain damage vs burst? Sustain should be higher to be balanced, but this has its limits. If Singed's damage is ridiculously high, it should be looked at, just the same as anyone else's. The fact that it's sustained only means it shouldn't be compared even-up with burst, but if it's still higher than ADC, that probably shouldn't be happening.
Bruisers out-damaging ADC? They're stronger early, have better AOE, and any weakness from being melee ('can't deal damage until the engage" is easily made up by gap-closers and hard CC. I seriously hope this stat DOES get taken seriously, as it might shed light on inter-class balance (including why everyone stacks defense these days - too much damage for free in kits?)
